Justin Taylor is a former South African Defence Force (SADF) Signals Officer who served with the elite 32 Battalion during the Angolan Border War and wrote the military memoir A Whisper in the Reeds.
He was severely wounded during the brutal Battle of Savate on May 21, 1980, where he and commanding officer Deon Ferreira were two of only five headquarters officers to survive.
